We investigate the evolution of a one-dimensional system in a lattice driven by noise colored in space and time. It is shown that crossover from individual to cooperative dynamics of the system constituents is due to noise. Attention is focused on the cooperative effects that lead to phase transition. Numerical simulation of the stationary probability distribution shows ergodicity breaking due to the spatial-time dependence of noise.
