Within the framework of the mean field theory and Monte Carlo simulation, we study the magnetic properties of the semi-infinite mixed spin-1/2 and spin-7/2 Blume-Capel model. In particular, the temperature dependence of magnetization under the effect of surface single-ion anisotropy is established. Depending on the values of the ratio of the surface interactions to the bulk ones, the system can assist the appearance of different generic types of phase diagrams, which present different phase transitions, namely, ordinary, extraordinary, surface and special phase transitions. Consequently, the results obtained are compared with those of other studies.
